My Point Of View
I’m really happy with the Magnasonic Super 8/8mm Image Scanner, which came well packaged and with a simple instruction manual.
I put off writing about it until I had more familiarity with the computer. Setting up and transferring scans to your device is a breeze.
It’s as simple as pushing a button or two to change the orientation of the photos. I’ve never had to change the exposure or emphasis, but it seems to be just as easy.
Since each episode of scanning is captured as a single mp4, if your film has a split, you’ll end up having two or three mp4 files that would need to be digitally entered.
The films I’ve been scanning are standard 8mm films. They are in their fifties. The color rendering of the well-exposed frames is excellent, but the under-exposed frames are murky – the cinematographer’s error, not the apparatus’!
The only drawback I’ve discovered is that the film jumps out of the monitoring spindles. This causes misaligned frame registration, which is corrected when the film is rethreaded. Another issue is that the manual’s scanning times do not correspond to regular-8 video.

This device took 8mm and Super 8 mm 30 & 40 years old and turned it into something amazing! It is possible to avoid the jumpy frames by comparison (software which is not sure whether it has come along with it or if it extra uses my Hubby) but I remember that we are sitting and seeing my parents and adult kids like they were young and it seems that it is again yesterday! Its Amazing!!!
Although it is a slow method since the ” projector” needs to evaluate and frame one by one, but it does not have to be there for all the time you need to translate the data. Product Great and I’d suggest it!
